In September 2002, culturally interested Dresden citizens founded the non-profit Lingner Castle Support Association (Friends of the Castle). "Citizens are committed to their city" is the guiding principle behind the association's commitment to the restoration and preservation of the castle as a living monument with a contemporary use.

As a place of encounter, inspiration, and exchange between people of different passions and professions, the Lingnerschloss Dresden is intended to be a symbol of cosmopolitanism and cultural diversity, of creative freedom and social transparency.
